Weather Wise in the USA

We all tend to wonder which state has the best of this or the worst of that at times. So, we often refer to the internet to find answers to our questions. Although these answers change in different years, and sometimes the answers we get seem to conflict with what another website shares with us.  Nevertheless, I took it upon myself after Hurricane Ian just occurred in Florida, to see if there were other states that made the list for most Hurricanes, and other weather situations that cause havoc as well, so I thought I would share my findings with you here.  Definitely not a complete list, but interesting nevertheless. And the funny thing is, these all tend to be states where so many people want to live.

Doing a simple Google Search I picked out the top state, although there are others in most categories also.

Which U.S. state has the most Earthquakes?                      Alaska

Which U.S. state has the most Volcano Eruptions?           Alaska

Which U.S. state has the most Tornadoes?                         Texas

Which U.S. state has the most Brutal Winters?                   Alaska

Which U.S. state has the most Humidity?                            Alaska (I was surprised to see this too)

Which U.S. state has the most Rainfall?                               Hawaii

Which U.S. state has the most Lightning?                           Texas (but Florida just out-ranked TX in 2022)

Which U.S. state has the most Thunderstorms?                 Florida

Which U.S. state has the most Avalanches?                       Colorado

Which U.S. state has the most Wildfires?                            California

Which U.S. state has the most Tsunamis?                           Hawaii

Which U.S. state has the most Extreme Temperatures?  California

Other weather conditions that couldn’t name just one particular state as the one with the most are:
Most Landslides = California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska & Hawaii. Basically anything along a mountain area & coast.
Most Sinkholes = Florida, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee
 
On the other hand, there are some positive mentions for the following states, although not all weather wise:

Which state has the lowest crime?                                      Maine

Which state is the kindest?                                                   Kentucky

Which state is the friendliest?                                              Vermont

Which state has the least natural disasters?                      Michigan
