I recently visited this rural town and found it to be a Great place for anyone who wants affordability, and can work from home, or for anyone wanting a storefront business at a fraction of the cost from anywhere else, to fill orders and/or provide other goods and services locally or online, and even a great place for anyone wanting away from the craziness of overpopulated metropolitan areas.
There is a lot of history ad remnants of days long gone, and a future for those with a Vision to create change on what's left behind. The town has seen its' boom days, with population growth, then decline after the refinery closed down, leaving the majority of workers to go elsewhere for work which created other businesses shutting down. Hence there is a lot of potential for redevelopment here as you'll see in this video from another town's revitalization.
Colorado City, TX does have plans and will grow again as people discover the possibilities here. It's inevitable with the way things are going elsewhere. The city serves as the County Seat and is the heart of Mitchell County where all matters related to the county are handled.
